City of Easton

Department of Community and Economic Development - About Us

The vision of Easton's future growth and prosperity is built upon its proud history as a cultural, commercial, and transportation hub. Poised as a destination for tourists, artists, investors, residents and businesses alike, the City Staff is eager to work you to make Easton your home or place of business.

With over 27,000 residents within a region of 540,000, Easton is a full service working community that maintains industrial areas with light manufacturing, distribution and warehousing, a vibrant downtown, and residential neighborhoods.

For over 250 years Easton's history and economy have been shaped by its location in the Lehigh and Delaware River Valleys. Where ferry and canal boats once connected Easton to the markets of the northeast, interstate highways, air, and rail service now connect Easton with and carry commerce to Philadelphia, New York, and beyond.

Tourism

Home to The Crayola Experience, National Canal Museum, Northampton County Historical Sigal Museum, The State Theatre and the Heritage Corridor's Visitors Center, Easton welcomes over 450,000 visitors annually.

Downtown Revitalization

Easton offers superior accessibility, enticing small-town ambiance, the prestigious Lafayette College, and diverse culture and historic attractions. Easton's distinctive historic buildings offer expanding opportunities for storefront and upper floor enterprises. Businesses affiliated with the arts will find Easton in the midst of a resurgence in the fine, industrial and creative arts. An active and growing artist community is complemented by galleries displaying nationally known as well as local artists' work. Much of the revitalization of Easton's Downtown can be attributed to the success of Easton's restaurants which have added vibrancy to the downtown in the evenings.

Business

Today, The Greater Easton Development Partnership (GEDP), in partnership with the City of Easton, The Easton Business Association (EBA), The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and an economic development network of over 20 agencies in the Lehigh Valley, is ready to assist your business with access to financing programs, site selection, and coordination with city and outside agencies.
