1. How will I know whether a snow emergency has been declared?

Snow emergencies will be declared when snow accumulations result in road conditions becoming hazardous. Tune into your local television and radio stations for information or call the Public Works Department at 610-250-6680. You can also check the landing page of this site, the City's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram), or sign up for Easton Alert to get information on snow emergencies.

2. Who is responsible for street trees?

All trees located along public streets in the public right-of-way are the responsibility of the property owner and are regulated by the City's Shade Tree Ordinance. Any maintenance, removal, or replacement will require a tree permit. Please call the City Forester at 610-250-6734 or view the Shade Trees page for information.

3. How do I report a streetlight out?

You may contact the City of Easton Public Works Department at 610-250-6680 or email us and we will file a report with Met Ed on your behalf. You may also contact Met Ed directly at 1-888-LIGHTSS 888-544-4877 or visit the FirstEnergy Corp. website. Please have the address and/or intersection of the pole and the pole number (example: 70000-00000). Please note that repair/maintenance of a Met-Ed Street Light may take several weeks to be completed.

4. Who do I contact if I miss a trash pickup?

5. Where can I purchase recycling cans?

The City's blue 20-gallon recycling cans may be purchased from the Finance Department on the 2nd floor of City Hall for the price of $10.

6. How does my recycling get picked up?

Curbside recycling services for residential customers under the city's contract are provided by Republic Services. All mixed-use, commercial, institutional, and residential properties with 7 or more apartments on a single lot are required to have private haulers or use the City's Recycling Drop-off Center. 7. Is there a limit for trash pickup and does Republic Services accept bulk items for trash pick up?

Properties under the city's contract may place the equivalent volume of four 32-gallon cans each week for pickup. Excess trash will be refused unless prior payment arrangements are made with Republic Services at 877-534-4446. In addition, one bulk item per week may be left curbside.

8. How does my trash get picked up?

Trash hauling services are provided once per week by Republic Services for residential pickup only with 6 or fewer apartments on a single lot. All mixed-use, commercial, institutional, and residential properties with 7 or more apartments on a single lot are required to have private haulers. 9. What materials are acceptable for recycling?

You may obtain a list of eligible recycling materials that are acceptable at both the recycling center and curbside by viewing the Curbside Recycling page.

10. Where is the recycling center located?

The City's recycling drop-off center is located in the Public Works Complex at 500 Bushkill Drive. Vehicles should proceed slowly at 10mph through the complex and follow the white-painted recycling lane. Watch out for city vehicles. The recycling center is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.

11. What are some items that are not recyclable?

Ceramics, dishes, coffee cups, drinking glasses, window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, Pyrex, Vision Ware, plastic bags, styrofoam, bound books, paper cartons for milk or juice, tissues, paper towels, coat hangers, food waste and containers of hazardous or toxic materials. 12. How do report a pothole to be repaired?

Potholes or other roadway issues should be reported to the Public Works Department at 610-250-6680.

13. How do I report a sinkhole?

Although sinkholes on private property are the responsibility of the property owner to repair, residents should notify the Public Works Department at 610-250-6680 to inspect for utility or other underground problems.

14. I just moved to Easton - How do I start up service for sewer and trash / recycling billing?

Residents will need to contact Utility Billing at 610-250-6689.

15. Am I responsible for snow removal from my sidewalk area?

Property owners and/or occupants are responsible for snow removal from sidewalks, curbs, and gutter areas within 8 hours of the end of a winter storm. This includes snow that is pushed into this area by city snow plows.

16. How do I dispose of paint?

Once paint is in non-liquid form you may dispose of it with your regular garbage. Place the lid in a garbage bag and leave the empty out next to your garbage so it can be inspected by the hauler. If paint is not dry you can add kitty litter, vermiculite, or sawdust to absorb the oil so there is no freestanding liquid.

17. How do I dispose of my propane tank?

Propane tanks may be taken to authorized dealers in the area for filling, exchange, or disposal.

18. How do I dispose of my air conditioner, refrigerator, freezer, or water cooler?

All FREON needs to be removed out of each item and have a certificate affixed stating it is free of HFCs (Hydrofluorocarbons) and CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons). This can be done at any refrigeration repair shop. Refrigerators must have all doors removed. Once completed you may put your one bulk item out for garbage on your normal pick-up day.

19. How do I dispose of my printer cartridges?

You may drop them off at our Recycling Center or at any office supply store. We checked with Cartridge World Phillipsburg at 201 Strykers Road, Suite 16, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865-5400 and they will take them as will any Staples Store.

20. How do I dispose of tires?

You must take your tires to an automobile tire center. There may be a charge of approximately $3 per tire. 10th Street Tire located at 25 N 10th Street will accept used tires.

21. How do I dispose of Motor Oil?

Used oil must be recycled or disposed of properly by local waste management authorities or at an automotive repair shop.

22. Who do I contact if my sewer backs up?

Residents should first call the 24-hour sewer line at 610-250-6693 prior to calling a private plumber.

23. Where do I recycle other items?

• Books can be recycled at the Quadrant Book Mart at 20 N 3rd Street in Easton (Restrictions apply - call and speak to Jo at 610-252-1188
• Bubble Wrap and Styrofoam Peanuts can be recycled at Pak-Mail at the Towne Center Shopping Center, 1700 Sullivan Trail, Easton
• Paper can be recycled at MS Reilly at 934 Bushkill Drive, Easton
• Scrap Metal can be recycled at Easton Iron and Metal at 1100 Bushkill Drive, Easton
• Clothes Hangers can be recycled at Al's Cleaners at 1134 Northampton Street, Easton
• Automotive Oil can be recycled A'Herns Automotive located at 907 Spring Garden Street, Easton
• Batteries Any lead acid type batteries (Car, truck, computer, etc) can be recycled at Interstate Battery located at 4568 Mountainview Drive, Walnutport. Most Auto Parts stores will take car and truck batteries
• Plastic grocery bags can be recycled at Home Depot or Giant Markets
