Northampton County and the City of Easton will be moving to the "Yellow Phase" of the PA Reopening Plan on Friday, June 5. Learn about this phase's restrictions HERE.
City of Easton Tax Filing Deadline Extensions
- Earned Income Tax - forms and payments now due by July 15, 2020
- Business Privilege Tax - filing and payments now due by August 1, 2020
- 2020 City of Easton Real Estate Taxes - Face value due date extended to August 1, 2020
- Quarterly installments extended as follows:
2nd installment extended to 7/1
3rd installment extended to 9/1
4th installment extended to 11/1
- Quarterly Business Privilege Tax filings (for business with gross revenues of >$2M annually)
- 1st installment extended to 6/30
- 2nd installment extended to 9/30
- 3rd installment extended to 12/31
- 4th installment extended to 2/28
UPDATE: The residential curbside collection of bulk items resumed on Monday, April 27 by the city's trash hauler, Republic Services.
Spring Sports with City of Easton Recreation League
Due to the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, the City will make a final decision on or about May 15 as to whether any of the spring recreational sports programs will proceed. In the event that any or all of the programs are canceled, the City will issue refunds to registrants.
The start of street cleaning has been delayed from April 1 to August 1, 2020.
The enforcement of parking violations by the city's Parking Enforcement Officers and/or Police Department are waived until May 18, 2020. They will only give tickets for parking situations that present a safety hazard, such as parking into an intersection, blocking a private driveway, etc. This also includes ticketing for expired registrations and inspections. The booting of vehicles is also curtailed through May 18, 2020.
All city-sponsored sports events, practices, and special events or festivals at City facilities or in any city right of way (such as a street) will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
The daily parking rates in both downtown city garages is waived through May 31, 2020.
City of Easton Pools
The City of Easton’s two pools will not open for the summer season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Health concerns over social distancing requirements and the current stay-at-home order prompted city officials to be proactive in choosing to keep the pools closed.
City of Easton Parks
Playgounds at city parks are temporarily closed, along with dog parks and basketball courts. Parks are still open for passive recreation activities, and everyone using them must maintain 6 ft social distancing. The city plans to reopen playgrounds at city parks and the city’s two dog parks once Northampton County moves into the Yellow Phase under the state’s direction. Basketball courts will remain closed.
City Pavilion Rentals
Scheduled City of Easton park pavilion rentals that need to be canceled due to the stay-at-home order in Northampton County and social distancing requirements will be refunded. Or if you would prefer to reschedule your event for later this summer, please contact the Director of Public Works at 610-250-6680 to find out about available dates.
Public Meetings & City Council Meetings
Public meetings of all Authorities, Boards and Commissions are canceled unless important deadlines must be met or for specific business that can't wait. All City Council meetings are canceled unless important actions need to be taken. All City Council distirct (neighborhood) meetings are canceled. Any Councl meetings that take place will be done so remotely using the technology infrastructure in City Council Chambers at Easton City Hall so that members of the public can call in with questions and view the live stream video online.
UPDATE: There will be no council meeting on Wednesday, June 27. The June 10 meeting will be held virtually.
Easton City Hall and public buildings remain closed to the public.
Citation Late Fees
Citation late fees for penalties as of March 16, 2020 are suspended until May 18, 2020.
